Return Policy & Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA)

At American Built Pro, we want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. If for any reason you are not happy, we offer a straightforward return, exchange, and refund policy designed to be clear and fair while maintaining our product quality standards. Most new and unused items may be returned within 14 days of receiving your order, provided they are in the same condition in which they were received, unused, and in the original packaging, and accompanied by a receipt or proof of purchase from americanbuiltpro.com. Certain items, including Tub Protectors and Shower Protectors (except single-bagged LDPE Tub Protectors), are not eligible for return. To help manage return processing and maintain inventory standards, all approved returns will be issued as store credit by default. If a refund is requested instead, a restocking fee equal to 20% of the original purchase price will apply.

1. General Return Eligibility

American Built Pro accepts returns on regularly stocked items provided that:

  • The item is unused and uninstalled
  • The item is in its original packaging
  • The item is in resalable condition
  • The return is requested within 14 days of receipt

Special order items, custom-made products, branded products, and discontinued items are non-returnable unless defective upon receipt.

2. Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) Requirement

An approved Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number is required prior to returning any item.

To request an RMA:

  • Complete the RMA Form in full.
  • Submit the form to: orders@americanbuiltpro.com for review and approval.
  • Incomplete forms will be automatically disapproved.
  • Photographs are required for damaged or defective claims.

Returns shipped without a completed RMA Form and a valid RMA number:

  • May be refused
  • May be discarded or returned to inventory
  • Will be subject to a $25.00 service fee

The RMA number must be clearly marked on the outside of the package. A copy of the RMA form must be included in the packing slip or inside the shipment.

3. Restocking Fees

For non-defective returns where customer has elected refund:

  • A 20% restocking fee will be deducted from the refund amount.
  • Shipping charges (original outbound shipping and return shipping) are non-refundable.
  • If original packaging is damaged or the product is not in resalable condition, additional fees may apply.

American Built Pro reserves the right to assess restocking fees of up to 100% if returned merchandise is damaged, used, incomplete, or unsellable.

At the discretion of American Built Pro, approved returns may be issued as:

  • A refund (minus applicable restocking fees and shipping charges), or
  • A store credit minus the cost of return shipping, where applicable.

4. Shipping Responsibilities

Our Responsibility: If your item arrives damaged or you receive the wrong product, we’ll take care of the return shipping costs. Just reach out to us as soon as possible, and we’ll quickly arrange everything to make it right.

Customer Responsibility: If the return is due to ordering the wrong item or for any reason other than a product defect or an error on our part, the customer will be responsible for:

  • All return shipping costs
  • Original outbound shipping charges
  • Risk of loss during return shipment

After American Built Pro receives and inspects your return, you will be notified of the refund approval status. If approved, the refund will be issued to the original method of payment within five business days. Please note that your bank or credit card provider may require additional time to process and post the credit to your account.

5. Damages, Defects, and Shipping Claims

Damaged or Incorrect Items: If you receive a damaged or incorrect item, please contact us within 1-2 days of receiving your order with photos of the damage or the incorrect item. We will work with you to resolve the issue promptly, which may include a replacement, exchange, or full refund, including any applicable shipping costs.

Claims for damage, defect, shortage, or error must be reported within:

  • 1-2 days of delivery

Failure to report within this timeframe may void eligibility.

For freight shipments:

  • Damage must be noted on the carrier’s Proof of Delivery (POD).
  • The customer must file claims directly with the freight carrier in accordance with U.S. law.
  • American Built Pro will assist with documentation when possible.

Photographic evidence is required for approval of damage or defect claims.

If approved, defective or damaged items may be replaced or credited at American Built Pro’s discretion.

6. Inspection Requirement

Customers must inspect all products immediately upon receipt.

American Built Pro will not accept claims after products have been:

  • Installed
  • Modified
  • Processed
  • Altered in any way

Items marked as “Final Sale” are not eligible for return or exchange unless they are faulty.

Failure to notify American Built Pro of any claim within the required time constitutes acceptance of the products.

7. Partial Case Returns

Returns of less-than-case quantities are not permitted.

For instance, if a case comes prepackaged with 80 units, you cannot request a return for 20 units. Exceptions may apply for damaged or defective products, or if the product was shipped incorrectly.

Exceptions may apply only for verified damage, defects, or mis-shipment.

8. Refund Processing

Approved refunds or store credits will be processed only after inspection and approval of returned merchandise. Once we receive and inspect your return, we will notify you whether your refund has been approved. Please note that it may take additional time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund.

Refunds will be issued:

  • By company check payable to the original purchaser, or
  • Credited back to the original payment method, at the company’s discretion.

If approved, your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your original method of payment within 5 business days.

All refunds and store credits will be reduced by:

  • Applicable restocking fees
  • Original shipping charges
  • Return shipping costs

9. Non-Returnable Items

The following items are not eligible for return:

  • Tub Protectors and Shower Protectors, except single-bagged LDPE Tub Protectors
  • Special order products
  • Custom-made or branded items
  • Discontinued items
  • Installed or used products
  • Consumables
  • Items returned after 14 days

Items marked as “Final Sale” are not eligible for return or exchange unless they are faulty.

10. Agreement to Terms

Submission of an RMA request constitutes agreement to this Return Policy and American Built Pro’s Terms and Conditions of Sale.
